In keeping with the nationwide call for social distancing to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, BADWest has decided to cancel its April 2, 2020 Monthly Membership Meeting and the "Day of Black Docs" event at AFI on April 26, 2020.

Art Jones has worked in the educational and commercial audiovisual industry for over 25 years. Working as photojournalist for Model Cities, the Amsterdam News, NYC, studio photographer, commercial and educational scriptwriter, curriculum designer, university lecturer, and media/public relations consultant. His career in this field began as a production assistant on Schoolhouse Rock educational cartoon series that aired over ABC Network for over six years. He is the Scriptwriter/Producer/Director behind the documentary films Spirit, Models of Success, and Thirteen Percent [13%]. His most recent film project is Al's Comeback: The Untold Story, an in-depth look at the people and events that brought Muhammad Ali's highly anticipated comeback fight to Atlanta, Georgia in 1970.
Born in Switzerland and based in Los Angeles, Sophie Huber gained her filmmaking experience as a member of an award winning Berlin film collective, for which she co-directed several narrative films. Her debut feature documentary, the critically acclaimed HARRY DEAN STANTON: PARTLY FICTION premiered at the Venice Film Festival, won several awards and was theatrically released in 2013. BLUE NOTE RECORDS: BEYOND THE NOTES is her second documentary.
Xavier Burgin is a writer/director from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. He’s a Sundance Fellow, HBO Alumni, Ryan Murphy Directing Program mentee, a semi-finalist for the Student Academy Awards, and a director for the Emmy-nominated series, Giants. A goofball at heart, he’s amassed 70,000+ Twitter followers via comedy, storytelling, and social commentary. He strives to bring an emotionally powerful aesthetic through drama and pleasantly gut-aching hilarity through comedy.
